He’s a larger version of a Yorkie and recently shaved down so he’d match Lexie. His breed is a Briard aka, French Sheep Dog. He is the funnies dog you’ll ever meet. I was hysterical this morning when he was tap dancing with his front two paws as he wanted to go outside and play.” type=”image” alt=”1125131005.jpg” pe2_img_align=”right” ] Our first full day back in New York and back on familiar ground. We spent last night in Rochester, NY with a fellow ST Rider and good friend, Deb F. Deb is a dog groomer so this morning I took Lexie to her shop Happy Tails Pet Grooming and she made Lexie all pretty for Thanksgiving, then it was off for Hoosick Falls, NY our half way mark between here and Maine.

It was a very odd feeling to be back on familiar ground. While I don’t know Rochester that well to forgo GPS, I easily recognized the roads I was on as Lexie and I have Ridden them, Biked them and driven them many a time. It’s truly the first time I actually know where and know the people around me.

There are the old abandoned or decommissioned locks and canal you pass on I-90. Did you know the Erie Canal was moved or rather replaced by the New York State Barge Canal in 1918? It was and parts of the old Erie Canal can be seen as you drive down I-90. Outside of that, it was an uneventful trip.
If you subscribe to our blog, and I hope you do, you will see an upcoming Kayak Trip Lexie and I will embark on from the Genesse River in Rochester to the Erie Canal south to Albany and perhaps down to Manhattan. I’m hoping to get a number of other kayakers interested in that trip and take that sometime in July or August. So be sure to stay tuned for that one.

After a delicious Pork Chop meal we caught up and then we introduced the two cats to Lexie or was it the other way around. The two cats were very curious about Lexie and at first Lexie was curious about them, but then she decided she’d rather just be left alone, but the cats were not about to ignore this strange thing in their home so they both kept a very close eye on Lexie as they tried to sniff her out via a Double Team strategy. It was quite entertaining to watch this play out.
Tomorrow will begin early, as we need to be up and out by 7:30am. I’m sure we will have the Up part down pat, but out…I might be struggling with that part. 😀 But either way, tomorrow we make tracks for another friends house in New Hampshire at the southern tip of Maine. We’ll probably hit Maine the follow morning before heading back to NY for Thanksgiving Dinner. Once we hit Maine, we will begin our next chapter…Home Bound. That will include the trip back to NY for Thanksgiving and then our short, but oh so important trip North to Vermont where we will finally be home.
