So my last post was on and about Thanksgiving. I had made it home and it was truly a wonderful and entertaining day. I got to see my family who i’d been missing while on the road, I had a friend over who didn’t have any plans for the day. I really love opening my door on Thanksgiving for other to join us, It has never failed to enrich my life by helping someone else.
After Thanksgiving, I hung around Yorktown, met with some old friends, helps some friends out and took care of some business. I even worked on Sandy, got her running good again and gave her a thorough bath to get rid of all that road salt we drove through during the snow storms. Then it was time to say good bye again and hit the road.
We left Yorktown Heights, NY and headed to Stamford, CT to say out good byes there. But these Good Byes were not the human kind, it was the dream kind. The ones you let go of so you can achieve another. At this time last year I was in full progression of Downsizing and Liquidating in preparation of moving aboard a 43′ Sail Boat in April. The deal was all but done on the sale of my businesses and I was packing up. By Feb 1, I’d be hold up in Vermont awaiting the day we closed on the Sail Boat and sailed her to Harbor View Marina in Stamford, CT some time in April. Well, if you have been following along from day one, you’d know that I mentioned this in the first post. That day never came and today; today was the day I said my official Good Byes.

This is where I was supposed to be living right now. On a Boat in Stamford CT” type=”image” alt=”1203131339a.jpg” ] We pulled into Harbor House Marina around 2:30pm and I’d be lying if I did not say it was Bitter Sweet, but it was necessary. I took a look around, saw some familiar liveaboard boats all covered up ready for winter to strike and thought about how close I was to floating out in the water right here. Perhaps someday I will be here or maybe another marina will be my home, but today. Today is a different day, today my home is now Vermont and my house is Sandy the Bus. Sandy is actually a great step toward boat living. Both are tiny homes, both need a lot of maintenance and both are simply a blast to live in. Thought I never have to worry about Sandy sinking in the ocean, I have sunk her twice in mud and snow.

I simply love Mystic, CT so I stopped in town to visit for a while before making tracks for Narraganset, RI. And one can not go to Mystic, Ct without stopping by Mystic Pizza made famous by the movie by the same name. Once I was done with our photo ops, we were off to RI.

So if one was saying good bye to a different dream, what’s the other… 6,000. Yes indeed, we are now 6,000 miles, 18 States and 2 Canadian Providences into our journey in a 35 year old bus and we are down to our final 3 days on the road for this trip. So hang on as we roll throughout New England here. Provincetown, RI is our goal for tomorrow before heading inland to our camp host.
