When you mention Life after Death to most people they will immediately think of someone who died and came back either from dying on the operating room table or in an accident of some sort, but the fact is, everyone of us experiences Life after Death.
Learning how to live again after someone or something you love so deeply, has been torn from your life is a difficult to say the least. Some of us never quite recover; never move past that moment. Some have even died themselves immediately after such an event and I’m not taking about suicide, but natural causes, if Heartache is natural.
For me, learning to live again, like I lived with Lexie by my side has been a challenge. While I can find joy here or there, my love of life is missing – because the Love of my Life is missing. I haven’t given up though, not by a long shot. Lexie would want me to be happy as it was her every wish to make me happy and she was great at it.
Today, July 1, 2016 I was to set out on a journey to find Life after Death, but like all great journeys, mine got a little delayed. I could blame that delay on many things, but the truth is, I was overwhelmed in trying to dissolve my former life as I prepare to build a new one. I left myself little time as I focused on helping or completing tasks I had promised others. In the end, I neither got those tasks completed nor did I leave myself enough time. Then all hell broke loose.
Though late, I was still planning on beginning today. If you are new here or haven’t been keeping up, when I say begin, I am referring to my kayak paddle from Canada to Key West, FL. The weather had other plans. Within a couple of hours of my launch time, I was to expect high winds, heavy rain, large hail and depending on the track of the storm – tornados.
I decided to make some changes at the last minute and push my start date to July 2nd. This afforded me a few more hours to get the kayak finished and close up my former life in Vermont. My dear friend Arlene, who has been pivotal in helping me launch, driving me places to get gear after I sold all my possessions and vehicles, had to reschedule yet another day from work in order to accommodate my change of plans.
Now here we are in Alburgh, VT at the Ransom Bay Bed 7 Breakfast where the generous hosts had offered to assist us for the night. Tomorrow morning Arlene will drive me within one hundred feet of the Canadian border, help me load up my kayak and off I will go. Off to find out who I am – without Lexie. Off to see if life does exist after death and off to begin a new life. A life on the water.
You can keep track of my progress even when I don’t have internet access via the little map in the top right corner. This will automatically update and show you where I am located and how far I’ve come and if you are so inclined, you can click on the Support tab in the upper left column to contribute to this expedition.; an expedition to find out if there is Life after Death.
Here are some pictures from the day we packed up Lex-T-Sea (the kayak) and did a dry or rather wet run. Enjoy
Good luck on your journey – hope you find what you’re looking for – envious would like to make a trip like that myself
Godspeed.
