After taking care of some business, we left the beautiful Sea and Sand RV Park around 11am under rainy skies and overcast. A little while later I pass a small roadside sign announcing that we just crossed the 45th Parallel. That is the 1/2 way point between the Equator and the North Pole. That is just too interesting to pass up so I made a U-Turn and went back for a photo op.

Further North I saw a sign for a Scenic Route and out in the distance I could see this huge rock in the ocean so I made the turn and headed to it. We pulled into a local park and climbed over the dunes for a look at the ocean and the rock. There we met Bambi who gave us a quick look over and decided we were not a danger to her.

Back on the road I continued up the Scenic Route when off in a parking lot on the right I saw another Bay Window Westy. Another U-Turn and we pulled up along side of Sandy’s sister. Yep, a 1978 Westy with its owners Ryan and Christina inside. We sat in the parking lot for a few minutes exchanging stories. Turns out they are from Seattle. We both hit the road with different agendas as they had to be in Seattle tonight and I won’t be there till tomorrow.
We continue up the coastline when I stopped for another photo op and as I get back in the bus, here come Ryan and Christina heading at me. Strange as they are going the wrong way and I had made a few other stops. They should have been well ahead of me. Ryan pulls over and Christina gets ut to tell me the road is closed ahead. Rock Slide perhaps? Another U-Turn and We all head off in the same direction. It was fun traveling in a small group for a little while.

Back on the 101 under continuous rain I decide I need to try one of these many road side coffee huts. I pulled into the Human Bean and ordered a Cafe Mocha. It was good! Back underway and we were soon crossing the long bridge into Washington. Our 4th State and #2 on my list of the remaining 9 I have to check off. (I have ridden to and through 39 out of the lower 48 states before this trip) After a quick photo op, I contact my potential host for the evening and she confirmed I have a place to stay so off to Olympia, WA we go.
We pulled in around 7pm and I was immediately greeted by Dale and Colleen. After a tour of their Red VW Syncro (a 4 wheel drive version of the Westy) I hooked up and unpacked. After dinner Dale, Colleen, Lexie and I all sat down for a chat and they introduced Lexie to their rabbit and cats.
After some more chit chat, Colleen offered to help me with my blog format and showed me some tips and tricks. The new format should be easier to read on a mobile device and I like the layout better as I can add my own photos to the banner and background. Rather than having to leave the blog and go to the site where my photos are hosted to see all of them, they are now shown in a slideshow format right here.
Well tomorrow its Seattle, WA and my first Bus Event. 😀
