When hate fills my world, I shall seek a new world for my world has no room for hate.
~Larry Jensen
My World is large. I have friends all over the USA, all over the world. I have friends from many different background, ethnicity and political beliefs. I stay connected with most of them via Facebook. Elections in the US are typically a trying time on Facebook as everyone here treats them as a sporting event. You pick a team and no matter how bad or good they are, you support them, even when that team is a mess and needs new players. It’s YOUR team and you will stand by them. Yes, this is how we approach politics in the US. Most of us, including me, honestly don’t have a clue as to how our government is run and what is involved. Sure, we grasp the basics, but the actual operations – not a chance and most would be lying to say they did. Politics is, well political and there is no black and white when it comes t politics. Nope, it isn’t even grey – its MUD.
So for me, its a difficult time to be on Facebook; a media source I turn to for entertainment and staying connected as I don’t like to watch too much TV and sometimes go months without turning it on except for watching a movie if a friend is visiting. I typically have to hide various pages my friends are sharing so I don’t have to see them.
When the Paris attack happened, everything on Facebook changed. No, I’m not talking about the profile pictures, though I did change mine since I do have a number of French friends and I wanted to support them in solidarity as their country was hurting. I did it as a way of giving a virtual hug to them. Sure, we ignored the other countries that have been dealing with this as well, but anytime I personally know a friend who’s family or country is in harms way, I will offer them my support. Before Paris, it was the people of Mexico as they prepared for the massive hurricane to hit them. I even turned on the TV to watch the news and there as very little coverage of it which saddened me.
But here we are, days after the Paris bombings and shootings and my very diverse newsfeed on Facebook has become filled with hate. Hate I can’t hide because they are posting their comments in their Status Updated. All I can do is to unfollow them, which is what I started to do before realizing that I was going to have to unfollow hundreds of people. People I consider friends. People would I would open my door to. People who have supported me in my times of need. I do not want to unfollow these people yet turning on Facebook today is depressing me so I will step back and take a break. I’m going to work on my book while reading some others, but before I take a vacation from Facebook, I need to say this to my friends. I am also leaving out any links as I think it is important that people do their own research – research which seems to be sorely missing from peoples though process today, but I will assure you, I have done my research. Hours of research checking facts and figures, but I know that if you don’t do your research, you will simply stand by your opinion and keep a closed mind so posting them will be pointless. My message will be very clear at the end and I completely expect to lose a fair amount of Facebook Friends as soon as I post this. I am prepared for that and know that its OK. We are both entitled to our opinions, I just hope your is a well educated one. Here we go.
I have seen the following from people on my friends list and I am very disturbed.
I’ve categorized them into the following.
1) BOMB ‘EM:
Hit the Middle East with a Nuclear Bomb(s) like we did to Japan.
There are over 400 million people living in the Middle East and these people feel that it is justifiable to murder them all for their own safety. Even if we remove some of the countries, there are still 30 million they want a direct hit with. I don’t know how I can be friends with someone who thinks 30 million innocent casualties are justifiable for anything. This is also called Ethnic Cleansing people!
2) OBAMA Haters:
I’ve seen countless posts claiming that our President isn’t doing anything. These people must be watching different news or perhaps no news as they definitely have no idea what we are actually doing with our military. The bombings in Syria – which are causing Syrians to flee the violence – is US Led. We have Special Ops teams on the ground, we have drones target bombing individuals and we have constant air strikes against ISIS, ISIL (and the rest of their acronyms) hang outs, weapons. Each of these strikes, I’m talking one strike, is costing the US Millions of dollars and there are dozens of strikes every day. Yet, we don’t know its even happening?
3)THE WORLD POLICE:
I’ve seen countless posts calling for a swift response from the US. Paris France was attacked. If we weren’t already leading the fight in Syria and much of the Middle East (do you even know where the Middle East is?) the US doesn’t get to just bomb people because they bombed someone else. There is or is supposed to be serious discussions and planning put into this. If we are attacked, we can respond, but if another country is attacked, we are supposed to be ready if they ask us for help, but much of the people in our country believe that we are the Enforcers of World order and they aren’t wrong. Its why the Middle Eastern countries hate us so.
4) EYE for an EYE:
So many are calling for more violence. Yeah, I get the whole eye for an eye thing…so do the bombers who hit Paris. Do you think that an Eye for an Eye works in one direction? The Paris attacks were in retaliation for the operations (attacks to the people in Syria) that occurred the days before in Syria. So guess what, We’re (US, France and others) bombing Syria again, what do you think their response will be – Surrender? These people would rather die than surrender. Are you willing to die for your beliefs?
5) NRA SUPPORTERS:
Another group of friends are claiming that if the people in Paris had guns, this would have been much different. First off, how the hell does the US take an event in Paris and turn it into am NRA debate? Secondly, Yeah, how so? The attackers wore bombs, Their primary object was to kill as many as they could. None of them ever plan on walking away alive. These are all suicide missions. Are you seriously going to shoot at a live bomb? You need to watch better TV. I’ve watched video footage of shootouts in the US between gangs, between cops and bad guys. You know what I notice in all of these? Expertly trained police that have been trained for these very situations, can’t hit the bad guys and the bad guys. In gang shootouts, its usually the innocent people who are shot as the gangs open fire on each other. I highly doubt that you or anyone else with a carry permit will be able to shoot with exact precision to take down the target while not killing others running for cover. Furthermore, no one in the US has ever proposed to take guns away from ‘responsible, sane citizens’ They have proposed to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally unstable, the reckless, and those with a history of violence.
6) WHAT ABOUT ISRAEL:
Fewer, but no less concerning, are the friends who turned our support of France into an anti support for Israel. The US gives Israel over 10 million dollars A DAY in financial support. {Although Israel is an “advanced, industrialized, technologically sophisticated country,” it “receives more U.S. aid per capita annually than the total annual [Gross Domestic Product] per capita of several Arab states.” Approximately a third of the entire U.S. foreign aid budget goes to Israel, “even though Israel comprises just…one-thousandth of the world’s total population, and already has one of the world’s higher per capita incomes.} That sure doesn’t look like we are ignoring Israel to me, in fact it looks like we are Israel’s Sugar Daddy.
Furthermore, most all of the fighting we are doing over there is over our direct support for Israel.
7) MUSLIM HATERS:
Many in the US celebrate Christmas. Hell, just look at the controversy over the friggen Red Cup. So are we so uneducated or perhaps white washed, that we no longer realize who Jesus was, where your event took place or his ethnicity? Your story of Jesus was of a Muslim couple expecting a child (Jesus) seeking shelter and could not find any. We celebrate this part of the story, we put up nativity scenes, we honor his birth (even if the timing is completely wrong – he, according to the story, would not have been born in Dec) and yet here we are, the very same people who are in the very process of setting up their displays, posting about their hatred. What does your bible teach you about Hate? About tolerance? About Love? What the hell are you learning when you go to church? From what I see on my Facebook news Feed – NOTHING. Seriously people, you have all wasted countless Sundays and money on decorations, because you didn’t learn a thing. you are filled with Commercialism, Greed and Contempt for those not exactly like you. You Praise your Lord and Hate your Neighbor and the same time. I’m not even religious and yet I am a better example of your religions teachings than you.
Hate Muslims? How can you blanket hate a group of people? I can be angry with the actions of a specific person or people, but a blanket hatred? Not in my world. To see many of you spread such hatred toward a group is mind boggling. I would expect this from the KKK, from the Right Wing Militants and others that practice exclusionism and ethnic cleansing, but you – my friends? NEVER!
The world is a complex place. I can assure you all that you don’t know everything that is going on. I sure don’t! Yet, thanks to the power of the internet, there is free information out there. There is also garbage and you have to read it all to find the truth. Even then, the truth is sometimes not revealed for years. We’re just finding out about wars and actions we were involved in in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s and its not like they sold us in the news and press conferences. Listen, I am no Conspiracist, but I do think there are many back room deals that take place that do result in countless lives lost and I for one, can not promote violence to end violence. Is it necessary sometimes? Sure, I won’t deny that, but I can’t promote it. I look at war not in GLORY but in sadness. In every military action, innocent people are losing their lives and the families of those innocent people are left to cope. Military action should be the LAST RESORT, not the first response. That is the very reason why, when this countries government was set up, they chose to not have it run by a member of the Military, but by a Civilian.
So look at what you are posting today, yesterday and tomorrow. Is it filled with Hate or Love? Are you making the immediate world around you better or worse? If I showed up at your door with nothing but the clothes on my back and a need for compassion, would you close the door in front of me or behind me?
Peace and Love to All

I agree
In one breath you’re lashing out at Christians , labeling/attributing the hateful Muslim comments as coming from Christians but yet preach tolerance. You speak of ethnic cleansing but fail to mention the Christian genocide in the Middle East. If people are speaking out against Islam out of ignorance then you are just guilty for speaking about Christianity. You mention the KKK but we currently have an anti white movement , disguised as a civil rights movement, called blacklivesmatter.
The NRA has not nothing to do with the second amendment , they are an organization that wants to help protect that amendment. Not every lawful gun owner is or has to join the NRA, another lable by you and again you’re wrong. This is your pulpit , not mine, but what if the people you are labeling , inadvertently I suppose , are atheists who have donated money for your dog ?? It may have felt good posting this but you come off as ignorant as the ones you are railing against.
Perhaps I wasn’t clear in my writing.
This post is about Status Updates I have witnessed on my newsfeed, your Newsfeed may be different and I would expect it to be.
The reason I did not mention Christian Genocide, which I am fully aware is happening, is because no one on my newsfeed was posting about it – supporting it. Otherwise I would certainly have included it. I will disagree with the Anti White Movement. I’v yet to feel threatened, yet to have had my rights taken away purely based on the color of my skin or had my life put in harms way because I was white. Until you are in fear simply because of your color, you can not compare yourself to what black people have been enduring. Yes, there, as there are in any group, bad people, but we don’t judge an entire white group for the actions of lets say Timothy McVeigh, but we do for others.
I mentioned the NRA, not as an organization, but specifically NRA Supporters. Thus why I said; NRA Supporters. Yes the Second Amendment and the NRA are on very different grounds. The NRA whats everyone to be armed – as they should because they represent Weapons and Ammo manufactures.
As for ignorance, perhaps – that is your opinion, but the message I thought, was about hate. I don’t hate Christians as I don’t hate Muslims or Syrians or anybody for that matter. What I hate is HATE. We reap what we sow and if you are sowing hatred and violence towards others, then guess what you get – violence and hatred toward you.
War is sometimes necessary, but it dose not mean we need to immediately look to war to solve all of humanities problems. Do you teach your children to beat the crap out of any other child who is different than he or she? Do you teach them that their first reaction in a conflict should be to wish the other was dead? I would say not, but yet that is exactly what we are doing and I saw we, because I recall a time where I too wanted us to destroy the enemy.
Peace.
